Softball Game Preview: Permian Panthers vs. Monahans Loboes

The Permian Panthers will face off against the Monahans Loboes at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Permian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Monahans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Permian fell victim to Aledo and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Bearcats, falling 9-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Monahans came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Buffaloes as they made off with a 13-2 win. The Loboes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Permian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-5-2 record this season. Monahans' victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Permian skirted past Monahans 4-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will Permian repeat their success, or does Monahans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
