Football Game Preview: Santee Falcons vs. Dr. Maya Angelou Community Phoenix

Santee is 7-2 against Dr. Maya Angelou Community since November of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Falcons will host the Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. Dr. Maya Angelou Community took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Santee, who comes in off a win.

Santee played in-conference for the first time on Monday and got just the result they were looking for. They blew past Jefferson 49-28. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 21 points or more this season.

Santee can attribute much of their success to Daynian Alvarado, who rushed for 107 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries. That's the most rushing yards Alvarado has posted since back in September of 2024.

Alvarado was just one part of a punishing run game: Santee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 678 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 175 rushing yards in 14 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Santee's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jerome Milner, Jared Fernandez, and Martin Alvarez, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, Dr. Maya Angelou Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 30-0 defeat at the hands of Manual Arts.

Santee's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Dr. Maya Angelou Community, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
