Big Valley Christian suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were beaten by Venture Academy 112-59. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Big Valley Christian in their matchups with Venture Academy: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Big Valley Christian got a solid performance out of Cohen Boone, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eiler Boone, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Stone Ridge Christian stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Elliot Christian 95-43 on the road. That 52 points margin sets a new team best for Stone Ridge Christian this season.
It was another big night for Kassius Salazar, who scored 22 points along with seven steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Marcus Parker, who scored 20 points along with three steals.
Big Valley Christian's loss dropped their record down to 16-3. As for Stone Ridge Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Big Valley Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 34.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Stone Ridge Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 41.7 rebounds per game. Given Big Valley Christian's sizeable advantage in that area, Stone Ridge Christian will need to find a way to close that gap.
Big Valley Christian was dealt a bruising 77-44 loss at the hands of Stone Ridge Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Big Valley Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
