Baseball Recap: Steinmetz College Prep Comes Up Short

Steinmetz College Prep extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 4-15-2. They came up short against the Amundsen Vikings, falling 16-0. The Streaks were not able to make up for their loss to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Amundsen, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-7-1 record this season. Considering they have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Amundsen's part, John Timm looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Timm a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Antonio Yanez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last nine matchups. Another player making a difference was Seth Horrow, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Coming up, Amundsen will be playing at home against Niles Notre Dame at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Steinmetz College Prep will be paying especially close attention to the Vikings' contest: after the Vikings face off against the Dons, they'll take on Steinmetz College Prep again at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
