Softball Recap: Four Straight Home Victories for Indianapolis Lutheran

Indianapolis Lutheran proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Braves: they've now won six in a row.

Gracie Boggs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Leyla Miller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Indianapolis Lutheran pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, their loss dropped their record down to 10-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indianapolis Lutheran will square off against Lawrence North at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
