Baseball Recap: Nashua South Gets the Win

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Nashua South nor Merrimack made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Purple Panthers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Tomahawks 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Purple Panthers have posted against the Tomahawks since May 4, 2016.

Max Demers made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam Murray, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Kosay Tanaka was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

The win made it two in a row for Nashua South and bumps their season record up to 6-11. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Merrimack, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14-1.
