Baseball Recap: Pinson Valley Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Pinson Valley and Clay-Chalkville meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Indians came up short against the Cougars, falling 9-0. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Pinson Valley got a good showing from Adam Taylor, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Taylor has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jamison Green made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases. He is becoming a predictor of Pinson Valley's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 7-19 when he doesn't).

Pinson Valley's record now sits at 9-20. As for Clay-Chalkville, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-14 record.

While Pinson Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
