Kellen Smith posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Monday. As a matter of fact, he produced his best game of the campaign: he struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

Even though Smith couldn't lead Mountain Crest over Ridgeline, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sadly, Smith's big day wasn't enough to stop the loss, which snapped the Mustangs' nine-game streak of wins on the road. With the streak broken, Smith and the Mustangs surely have a bit of extra motivation heading into Tuesday's match.
