Basketball Recap: Shenandoah Valley Comes Up Short

Shenandoah Valley lost against Mahanoy Area back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils were outmatched by the Mahanoy Area Golden Bears and fell 62-34. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while the Golden Bears are ranked 27th).

Jace Yedsena continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mahanoy Area, going 7 of 14 en route to 18 points and three steals. Yedsena's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Zawada, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Shenandoah Valley and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Mahanoy Area, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Shenandoah Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 36-30 victory against MMI Preparatory School on the 2nd. As for Mahanoy Area, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-53 win against Marian Catholic on the 3rd.
