Football Recap: Geneva Classical Academy Comes Up Short on the Road Against Foundation Christian Academy

Geneva Classical Academy had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were beaten by the Foundation Christian Academy Panthers 44-14 on Friday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Geneva Classical Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Bennett Bayhan and Clay Lindsay. Bayhan picked up 104 receiving yards and one score, while Lindsay threw for 134 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Lindsay was even better on defense, picking up a sack and making five total tackles.

Even if they lost, Geneva Classical Academy's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Caleb Causey, Lindsay, and Braylon Paul, who each picked up one sack apiece. Geneva Classical Academy got some further help from Causey: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made six total tackles.

Foundation Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Azor-Gourdin out in front who rushed for 62 yards and one TD. Azor-Gourdin was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. Jonathon Sawicky made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Geneva Classical Academy has already played their next game, a 41-6 defeat against Donahue Catholic on the 22nd. As for Foundation Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-22 win against Four Corners on the 22nd.
