Holmes County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past the Poplar Springs Atomics with points to spare, taking the game 59-45. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Atomics are ranked 415th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Poplar Springs' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Earnest, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 16 points. Jamal Carnley was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six boards and five assists.

Holmes County's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Poplar Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Holmes County has already played their next contest, a 41-36 loss against Ponce De Leon on the 13th. As for Poplar Springs, they will be home for the holidays to greet Northside Methodist Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
