Vernon Hills had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They never let the Grayslake North Knights get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Friday. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 35-14 win the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Giuseppe Urso had a dynamite game, rushing for 137 yards and one score while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made one tackle. Colin McMurray helped out on the ground, rushing for 94 yards.

Coming up, Vernon Hills will be playing at home against Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Grayslake North, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Elgin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
