Baseball Recap: Downtown Magnets Comes Up Short

Downtown Magnets dropped down to 4-2 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the University Wildcats, falling 11-5. The Suns were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for University, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

For University's part, Angel Huerta made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Huerta was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other pitching news, Nova B looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

Back at the plate, David Carrillo was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 14 times he's played. DJ Pichetrungsi was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Downtown Magnets will be taking part in a tournament against Verbum Dei Jesuit at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for University, they will take on Triumph Charter in a tournament on Wednesday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Jaguars have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
