Baseball Recap: Eastern Wayne Comes Up Short

The matchup between Eastern Wayne and Smithfield-Selma on Monday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Warriors lost 20-3 to the Spartans. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Spartans when the teams met back in March of 2020, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Eastern Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Smithfield-Selma, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

While Eastern Wayne had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
