Softball Game Preview: Hammonton Blue Devils vs. Washington Township Minutemen

The Hammonton Blue Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Washington Township Minutemen at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hammonton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

While Hammonton didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over Buena on Monday. The victory was nothing new for the Blue Devils as they're now sitting on three straight.

Gracie Ravenkamp was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Sophia Booker was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three runs and four RBI. Myra Coulter also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Hammonton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Washington Township lost 14-5 to Gloucester County Tech on Thursday. The Minutemen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Washington Township's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Hammonton, their record now sits at 7-1.

Hammonton took their win against Washington Township in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 12-3 score. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Minutemen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
