Recap: Mauldin Mavericks vs. James F. Byrnes Rebels
The Mauldin Mavericks fought the good fight in their overtime game against the James F. Byrnes Rebels on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 85-81 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rebels. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Wednesday (55), Mauldin still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Mauldin still got an impressive performance from Jordan Sullivan, who scored 21 points along with 7 rebounds. Braden Hershberger was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
James F. Byrnes' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Will Fowler, who scored 25 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayzzin McDowell, who scored 24 points.
Mauldin's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for James F. Byrnes, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Mauldin will be playing at home against Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Riverside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Mauldin likes a good challenge. As for James F. Byrnes, they will head out on the road to face off against Daniel at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Daniel focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Monday.
