Softball Recap: Grant Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

It was a proper cat-fight when Grant duked it out with Eunice on Tuesday. The Cougars walked away with a 12-8 victory over the Bobcats. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bobcats, too.

Peyton Kirtland was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits. Kirtland was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Grant let Audeleigh Carpenter and Saydie Willson run wild. Carpenter went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Willson went 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run. Those three runs gave Carpenter a new career-high. Carleigh Roe was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Grant pushed their record up to 18-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Eunice, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-9.

Grant will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Wednesday.
