Basketball Recap: Fairfield Takes a Loss

Fairfield was the 71-67 winner over Harrisburg when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Fairfield Mules fell 59-47 to the Harrisburg Bulldogs on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Mules can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 106th).

Fairfield has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Harrisburg, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairfield will face off against Edwards County at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Harrisburg, they will take on Hamilton County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
