Recap: Mount Airy Christian Academy vs. Maryland School for the Deaf Orioles
Mount Airy Christian Academy have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 21 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Maryland School for the Deaf with a sharp 53-32 win on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mount Airy Christian Academy also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mount Airy Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Stein, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and seven steals. Stein also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Garrett Alford, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds.
Mount Airy Christian Academy pushed their record up to 5-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for Maryland School for the Deaf, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Airy Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Carroll Christian at 5:30 p.m. on December 15th. Carroll Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 165th, while Mount Airy Christian Academy is ranked 36th). As for Maryland School for the Deaf, they will head out on the road to face off against Marie Philip at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Marie Philip will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
