Volleyball Game Preview: Pentucket Regional vs. East Longmeadow Spartans

Pentucket Regional will head out on the road to face off against the East Longmeadow Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Pentucket Regional came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against North Andover, falling 3-0. The shutout was out of character for Pentucket Regional seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in September.

Pentucket Regional was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made North Andover work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-22, 25-18.

Alanna Cepeda put forth a good effort for the losing side as she had eight digs and two aces. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played.

Wahconah Regional typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday East Longmeadow proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Warriors 3-0. The win was familiar territory for the Spartans, who have now won three matchups in a row.

East Longmeadow never let Wahconah Regional on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-23, 25-17.

East Longmeadow's victory bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Pentucket Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Pentucket Regional has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.3 aces per game. However, it's not like East Longmeadow struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 16.6 aces.
