Volleyball Recap: East Aces vs. Northwest Grizzlies

It was a classic East v. West duel when East faced off against Northwest on Thursday. The Aces fell 2-0 to the Grizzlies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Grizzlies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in September.

East was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Northwest work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 29-27.

Claire Buss paced East's offense, picking up nine kills. Buss got some help from Birdie Buell and her 15 assists. Buss was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Among those leading the charge was Reese Johnson, who had 14 digs. That's the most digs she has posted over her last nine matches.

This is the second loss in a row for East and nudges their season record down to 11-14. As for Northwest, their victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-6.

Coincidentally, East and Northwest will both be playing West the next time they take the court. The Grizzlies will host the Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Aces will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
