Basketball Recap: Davis Takes a Loss

Davis lost against Syracuse back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Davis Darts were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 39-38 to the Syracuse Titans.

Davis' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was T'Maea Eteuati, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds. That was a full 34.2% of Davis' points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Chloe Peery, who earned seven points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Davis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Syracuse's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rachel McBride, who put up eight points and five rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, McBride now owns an excellent 41.2% three-point shooting accuracy. Aubri Stoker was another key player, putting up seven points and seven boards.

Davis' loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Syracuse, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Davis will challenge Farmington at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Syracuse, they will head out to square off against Fremont at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Syracuse is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.7 points per game this season.
