Softball Recap: Barnstable Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Barnstable came into Thursday's contest having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional Dolphins on Thursday as they made off with a 10-4 victory. The Red Hawks not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17th (when they won 22-15).

Madison Flynn made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Jordyn Green was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Charlotte Hadawar was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Barnstable's record now sits at 4-16. As for Dennis-Yarmouth Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Barnstable does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dennis-Yarmouth Regional, they will face off against Monomoy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dolphins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sharks have averaged an impressive 11.9 runs per game this season.
