Softball Recap: Mauston Comes Up Short

Mauston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 20-0 to the Sparta Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Eagles of the 26-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Mauston's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Sparta, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mauston will challenge Roncalli at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Jets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.82 runs per game on average), something the Golden Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sparta, they will face off against Nekoosa at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
