Preview: Elmwood-Murdock Knights vs. Freeman Falcons
Elmwood-Murdock and Freeman are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Elmwood-Murdock Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Freeman Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Elmwood-Murdock is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Elmwood-Murdock gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. Everything went their way against Fillmore Central as Elmwood-Murdock made off with a 54-29 victory. With Elmwood-Murdock ahead 35-11 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Tatum Backemeyer was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points. She hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney "laney" Frahm, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of 11 wins, Freeman's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 36-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Malcolm. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Freeman has scored all season.
Elmwood-Murdock pushed their record up to 13-1 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Freeman, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-2.
Elmwood-Murdock strolled past Freeman in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 43-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elmwood-Murdock since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
