Basketball Game Preview: Austintown-Fitch Falcons vs. Ursuline Fighting Irish

The Austintown-Fitch Falcons will venture away from home to square off against the Ursuline Fighting Irish at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Austintown-Fitch is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against St. Joseph Academy on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Austintown-Fitch was outmatched by St. Joseph Academy and fell 67-32. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-18.

Meanwhile, Ursuline was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 53-45 to Howland.

Ursuline's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Austintown-Fitch, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Everything came up roses for Austintown-Fitch against Ursuline in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 55-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Austintown-Fitch since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
