Softball Game Preview: Ryan Raiders vs. Denton Broncos

The Ryan Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Denton Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Ryan has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Ryan is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since April 19, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Argyle by a score of 4-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Raiders in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Olivia Buettner put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Buettner was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kendall Whitehill made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Denton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Argyle.

Ryan's record now sits at 11-5. As for Denton, their record is now 6-12-1.

Everything went Ryan's way against Denton when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Ryan made off with a 15-0 victory. Will Ryan repeat their success, or does Denton has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
