Recap: Staunton Storm vs. Fort Defiance Indians
If The Staunton Storm were feeling good off their 40-0 takedown of the Buffalo Gap Bison last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Staunton fell 21-13 to Fort Defiance on Friday. Staunton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Fort Defiance apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Among those leading the charge was Bradley Hebb, who rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns.
Staunton's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Fort Defiance, Riverheads, and Stuarts Draft. As for Fort Defiance, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Staunton will be playing at home against Waynesboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Waynesboro comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Fort Defiance, they will head out on the road to face off against Buffalo Gap at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Buffalo Gap will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 305th, while Fort Defiance is ranked 120th).
