Baseball Recap: Milton Comes Up Short

Milton had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it seven. They lost 16-4 to the Missisquoi Valley Thunderbirds. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellowjackets of the 8-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Milton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Allard, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for Missisquoi Valley, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-3. That looming 16-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

On Missisquoi Valley's side, Colin Teague made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Teague also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Missisquoi Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise. Teague was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI were his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Max Wagner, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Shane Bushey, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Milton will be playing at home against Enosburg Falls at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Missisquoi Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Vergennes at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
