Soccer Game Preview: Altamont vs. Tuscaloosa Academy

Altamont will venture away from home to square off against Tuscaloosa Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Altamont was handed a four-goal defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene last Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bayside Academy, sneaking past 4-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tuscaloosa Academy). Everything went their way against Sipsey Valley on Thursday as Tuscaloosa Academy made off with a 13-0 win. Given Tuscaloosa Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Sipsey Valley are ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory was the third in a row for Tuscaloosa Academy, bringing their record up to 9-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 35 goals over those three matchups. As for Altamont, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.

Altamont couldn't quite get it done against Tuscaloosa Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 as they fell 4-2. Can Altamont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
