Basketball Recap: Macon-East Montgomery Academy Takes a Loss

Macon-East Montgomery Academy lost against Valiant Cross Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The matchup between the Macon-East Montgomery Academy Knights and the Valiant Cross Academy Warriors didn't end well, with the Macon-East Montgomery Academy Knights falling 66-52. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while the Warriors are ranked 22nd).

When it comes to explaining why Macon-East Montgomery Academy lost, don't look at Jackson Todd. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Todd has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Micah Andrews, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Valiant Cross Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deshawn Hall, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Hall a new career-high in assists (seven). Jersey Farbes was another key player, going 8 of 12 on his way to 19 points and three steals.

Macon-East Montgomery Academy's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Valiant Cross Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Macon-East Montgomery Academy will challenge Chambers Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Valiant Cross Academy, they will square off against Hooper Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
