Baseball Game Preview: Shadow Ridge Mustangs vs. Bishop Gorman Gaels

The Shadow Ridge Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Bishop Gorman Gaels at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Shadow Ridge made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Palo Verde, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Mustangs fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 4-2 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.

Skyler Fife was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits.

At the plate, Shadow Ridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eddie Peterson, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Bishop Gorman took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They came out on top against Liberty by a score of 7-2. The Gaels haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Bishop Gorman also got a great performance from Hudson Ciulla as he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave Ciulla a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Ajay Hermosura was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Logan Grubbs, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Shadow Ridge might still be hurting after the 17-2 loss they got from Bishop Gorman in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
