Basketball Preview: Banquete Bulldogs vs. Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys
After two games on the road, Banquete is heading back home. They will take on the Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Banquete lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They were beaten by London 74-21.
Despite the loss, Banquete had strong showings from Logan Blanchard, who scored eight points, and Joshua Jimenez, who scored four points.
Meanwhile, Falfurrias pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of London by a score of 59-57. Falfurrias has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Banquete dropped their record down to 2-21 with that loss, which was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Falfurrias, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-5.
Banquete was dealt a bruising 73-35 defeat at the hands of the Fightin' Jerseys in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Falfurrias' Alex Esparza, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
