Preview: Bloomington South Panthers vs. Seymour Owls
Two dominant signal callers in Jarrin Alley and Bret Perry are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bloomington South Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Seymour Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bloomington South has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 291 points over their last six matches.
Last Friday, Bloomington South faced Bloomington North in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bloomington South came out on top against Bloomington North by a score of 44-31. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Alley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 220 yards and six touchdowns. Alley is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. D'andre Black did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 71 receiving yards.
Another reason for the win was Bloomington South's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Bloomington North's QB won't forget Duke Conrad anytime soon given Conrad sacked him four times.
Seymour never got on the board in their matchup back in October, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Columbus East last Friday. They took down the Olympians 39-20.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Seymour to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nicholas Wheeler, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Perry was another key player, having thrown for 267 yards and three touchdowns.
Bloomington South's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Seymour, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Bloomington South against Seymour in their previous matchup back in October as the team secured a 47-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bloomington South since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
