Softball Recap: Wolcott RVT Wildcats vs. Bassick Lions
It was a proper cat-fight when Wolcott RVT took on Bassick on Tuesday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 25-7 margin over the Lions. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Emma Archer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Ava Schaer and Meghan McKearney did most of the damage at the plate: Schaer went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI, while McKearney went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave McKearney a new career-high. Brooke Curtis was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
