Basketball Game Preview: Riverbend Bears vs. Massaponax Panthers

Riverbend hasn't had much luck against Massaponax recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Riverbend Bears will look to defend their home court against the Massaponax Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Riverbend was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against North Stafford on Saturday. Everything went Riverbend's way against North Stafford as Riverbend made off with a 52-27 win. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Massaponax had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They strolled past the Black Hawks with points to spare, taking the game 44-28.

Massaponax pushed their record up to 12-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points over those games. As for Riverbend, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.

Riverbend couldn't quite finish off Massaponax in their previous meeting on Monday and fell 46-43. Can Riverbend avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
