The Mason County Central Spartans will face off against the Ravenna Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mason County Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Mason County Central will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Monday, then bounced right back against Pine River Area last Monday. The Spartans blew past the Bucks 12-3. While the Spartans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Peyton Merz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Merz was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Mason County Central got a massive performance out of Pierce Bladzik, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Toby Reed was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Mason County Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Ravenna scored the most runs they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 11-5 to West Michigan Christian.

Mason County Central's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Ravenna, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Mason County Central skirted past Ravenna 6-5 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
