Basketball Preview: Toll Gate Titans vs. North Providence Cougars
Toll Gate has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the North Providence Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Rhode Island (Toll Gate is ranked 12th, while the Cougars are ranked 16th).
Last Friday, Toll Gate was the victim of a tough 47-24 loss at the hands of the Mariners. Toll Gate has not had much luck with the Mariners recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, North Providence strolled past the Patriots with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 46-32.
Lusine Hagopian was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with six rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Makenna Heon was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Toll Gate's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6. As for North Providence, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Toll Gate was able to grind out a solid victory over the Cougars in their previous matchup back in January, winning 47-38. Does Toll Gate have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
