Basketball Recap: Eight Straight Home Wins for Leyton

Leyton had won seven straight home games and Zaili Benish did her part to make it eight on Saturday. The Leyton Warriors breezed by the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs to the tune of 81-34 thanks in part to Benish, who went 13 of 22 from beyond the arc en route to 51 points along with seven boards and five steals. The match was her 27th in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Shawnee Gamble, who posted seven points and ten assists. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played.

Leyton's victory bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Gordon-Rushville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leyton will challenge Sedgwick County on Tuesday. Sedgwick County will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Leyton surely won't give up without a fight. Gordon-Rushville has already played their next contest (against Mitchell), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
