Basketball Preview: Washington Bulldogs vs. North Cobb Christian Eagles
The Washington Bulldogs will be playing at home against the North Cobb Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Washington has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Washington pushed their score all the way to 70 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to KIPP Atlanta Collegiate 76-70. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (63), Washington still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you drain five more threes than your opponent, a fact North Cobb Christian proved on Tuesday. They came out on top against Therrell by a score of 66-53. Given North Cobb Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Panthers are ranked 402nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Gabe Bolden, who scored 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Grant Robich was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven assists and four steals.
Washington has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which lines up perfectly with their 4-12 record this season. As for North Cobb Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 15-6.
Washington ended up a good deal behind the Eagles in their previous matchup back in January, losing 87-71. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bolden, who scored 27 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Now that Washington knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
