Baseball Recap: Santa Paula Gets the Win

Santa Paula and Malibu pushed the score to 31-0 the last time they played Malibu, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Cardinals' pitcher stepped up to hand the Sharks a 4-0 shutout. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Sharks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Isaak Medina's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Santa Paula is 6-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Ruben Venegas was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Santa Paula: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 9-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Angel Casimiro, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Santa Paula's record is now 14-11. As for Malibu, they dropped their record down to 1-17 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight at home.

As of now, neither Santa Paula nor the Sharks have any future games scheduled.
