Softball Recap: Chenango Valley Wins Going Away Against Seton Catholic Central

Chenango Valley barely beat Seton Catholic Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors put the hurt on the Saints with a sharp 14-3 victory on Thursday. Considering the Warriors have won four games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Abby Cron made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, Chenango Valley let Colsten Beers and Mackenzie Hubenthal run wild. Beers went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Hubenthal went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that Hubenthal has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Amelia Paske, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Chenango Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seton Catholic Central only posted an OBP of .238.

Chenango Valley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Seton Catholic Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chenango Valley will host Vestal at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Seton Catholic Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Unatego at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
