Baseball Recap: Franklin Academy Comes Up Short

Franklin Academy lost against East Wake Academy back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Patriots took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.

Chase Liner put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double.

Liner wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Denton, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Franklin Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for East Wake Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Looking ahead, Franklin Academy will head out to square off against NCSSM: Durham at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Unicorns have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.75 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for East Wake Academy, they will welcome Knightdale at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.08 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
