Game against West Toronto Prep called at halftime due to lopsided score.
High school football national powerhouse
IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) opened the 2021 season by beating
Bishop Sycamore (Columbus) 58-0, setting off a wave of scrutiny that led to the end of the ill-fated Ohio program.
Friday night in Florida, IMG Academy handed out a beating that makes the Bishop Sycamore outcome look charitable. The Ascenders, ranked No. 10 nationally this week by MaxPreps, piled up 96 unanswered points against
West Toronto Prep (Ontario, Canada) – in the first half.
The lopsided contest was called off at halftime with IMG Academy (7-1) leading 96-0.
In its last four games, IMG Academy has outscored opponents 254-0. Why the Ascenders had West Toronto Prep (0-6) on the schedule to begin with is tough to figure out. The Canadian program not only hasn't won a game this season, it has only scored six points while allowing 195, including a 61-0 loss against McDowell (Erie, Pa.) on Oct. 14 followed by a 55-0 loss to McCallie (Chattanooga, Tenn.) a week later.
Let's go to Twitter for reaction to Friday's obscene final score.
