Basketball Recap: Appling County Skates Past Cook with Ease

Appling County not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since February 10, 2025 (when they won 72-28). They breezed past the Cook Hornets to the tune of 69-41. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

Appling County was led to victory by Nate Davis and Aldarrius Howell. Davis posted 16 points and seven steals, while Howell earned 16 points along with five boards and five steals. Howell is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Noah Henderson was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Appling County's win bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Cook, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Looking ahead, Appling County is taking a road trip to take on Wheeler County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Cook, they will head out to face off against Tattnall County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
