Football Recap: Cornwall Central Piles Up the Points Against Ballston Spa

Cornwall Central got themselves on the board against Ballston Spa on Friday, but Ballston Spa never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Scotties 29-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Dragons just coasted through the last quarter.

Danny Twomey was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 90 yards and one score, and also threw for 129 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Those 90 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Bishop, who rushed for 90 yards and one TD on only 12 carries.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cornwall Central's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Quadir Truluck, Jayden Scott, and Ryan Nunez-Gomez, who each picked up one sack apiece. Truluck was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing two fumbles, and making eight total tackles (3.5 for loss).

The win made it two in a row for Cornwall Central and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 35.5 points. As for Ballston Spa, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Cornwall Central and Ballston Spa should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Dragons (ranked 33rd) will meet Beacon (ranked 383rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Cornwall Central 8.8, the Bulldogs 12.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Ballston Spa will face off against Mohonasen on Friday with a big rank advantage (154 vs. 428).
