Baseball Recap: Calexico Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

While Calexico's win against Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Spartans 6-4. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

David Lara tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ander Garcia, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Randy Baez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Calexico pushed their record up to 17-3-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.25 runs across that stretch. As for Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calexico will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Holtville at 7:00 p.m. on May 6. As for Central, they will head out to take on Jurupa Hills at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
