Baseball Recap: Heritage Gets the Win

Heritage lost to Fuquay-Varina back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Huskies came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bengals, sneaking past 6-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Huskies.

Sean Neumann tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, Leighton Cash was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Tyler Abbe, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Heritage's record now sits at 16-5. As for Fuquay-Varina, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 13-5 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Heritage will challenge Wake Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Fuquay-Varina, they will take on Smithfield-Selma at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bengals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
