Softball Recap: Broughton Capitals vs. Enloe Eagles        
        
		
            
 Broughton was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight  loss. They fell just short of the Enloe Eagles by a score of  8-7. That's two games in a row now that Broughton has lost by  just one  run.
  Lucy Bertram was cooking despite her team's loss,   scoring three  runs and  stealing four bases while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of  Avery Troxell, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
 On Enloe's side,  Avery Modlin was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she  struck out ten batters over  six innings while giving up just two earned  (and two unearned) runs off   five  hits. Modlin has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in 15 consecutive pitching appearances. Modlin was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while going 1-for-4.
 Modlin wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Ella Thompson, who  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances. Thompson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive pitching appearances.  Ruth Rick was another key contributor,  going 1-for-3 with three  RBI.
 Broughton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Enloe, the  victory was  the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.
 Broughton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Enloe also has no future games currently scheduled.
