Baseball Recap: Bishop Brossart Comes Up Short

Bishop Brossart extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 8-9 in the process. They lost 12-1 to the Harrison County Thorobreds/Fillies. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 8-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Harrison County, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 23-2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games.

For Harrison County's part, Brian Vaughn made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Vaughn has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Boston Reynolds, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Russ Persinger was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Bishop Brossart will host Holy Cross at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Harrison County, they will square off against Nicholas County at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Thorobreds/Fillies are facing the Bluejackets at the right time seeing as the Bluejackets are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
